Installing new hot tubs in your back garden is a nice thing to back home to after a hard day's work. Nothing feels better than sitting in a warm bubbling tub with a small beverage in one hand and the added benefit of being able to look at the stars. Unless of course you live in the UK whereby the weather is unpredictable and you may well need to keep the hot tub under a gazebo. It is always nice at first once this has been installed, but then comes the annoying part of maintenance. All hot tubs need to be fitted in by a professional who knows exactly what they are doing. Even if you are a dab hand at DIY work and manual labour, you will need to have someone experienced to build this in for you. You will need to take their advice and always read the instructional pamphlet that provides information on how to clean the hot tub and how to keep it in good condition. If however, you overlook this important part then you will suffer the consequences. It is essential that hot tubs are kept clean and hygienic, prolonged usage without draining out the water can result in a fair few health implications. One of which includes something known as the hot tub skin rash. This can cause red bumpy rash that develops on the skin, the skin will become very itchy and can develop into pus-filled boils around the hair follicle area. The infection is caused by the germ Pseudomonas aeruginosa that resides in contaminated water, such as lakes, swimming pools or even hot tubs. Those who are wearing swimsuits may suffer from a worse case as the water is trapped in between the clothing and the skin, and so has had a longer point of contact with the skin. People will not know whether the water is contaminated or not as the germ itself is microscopic, therefore it cannot be seen by the human eye. However, there are ways to avoid this skin infection. One obvious way is to avoid swimming waters that appear to be unclean and unhygienic. This would seem obvious in lakes, but young people like to jump into lakes during the hot summer months, therefore, they will be unaware of the dangers themselves. Keeping your hot tub water clean, by draining it regularly and checking on the chemical Ph balance will prevent the water from becoming contaminated. The best way you can tell whether the Ph balance on hot tubs are off, is by looking at the hot tub itself. You will see that it smells a bit like bacteria (other than chlorine) and will have things festering/growing within. When the water becomes mirky, this means that the Ph balance is not correct and will need draining. Regular cleaning and checks will prevent you from ever getting a skin rash after usage. Always keep the chemical balance right as this is the most important part of keeping the water fresh and hygienic.
