They must have some kind of clout on the person which would help to motivate them.
Once the intervention group is set, the interventionist will guide the people on what they must do or say to the person to help them out of their denial. This will be formalized, because the people will be asked to draft speeches about what they will say. These speeches will need to be practiced. The interventionist will ask the people of the group to speak out the speeches in front of them so that they can bring out the right kind of effect when they are trying to convince the patient.
It is not just the motivation part that the intervention program will help the families with. They will also help them to find the right treatment program for the patient. They will make the families aware what kinds of treatment options are possible and which of these can be selected for the patient according to their condition. This becomes a great help for families who are not quite aware of how the alcohol addiction treatment works. Moreover, they can get customized treatment for the patient.
The interventionists will also help families to be updated of the procedures at the center of recovery, which is of great help if the program is an inpatient program. Even after the discharge is done, the intervention specialists will tell families methods by which they can keep the patients away from having a relapse condition.
